Month 7 - 23 October to 23 November 2018
23 November 2018 | Italië, Quinto al Mare
After our big trip, we returned to Quinto at the end of October.
A few days later, Martijn & Marijke (friends from Holland) came over to enjoy a week of sunshine.
In that week we have also broken the family van der Wal record of the latest swim of the year in the Mediterranean Sea at Quinto over the last 40 years: 23 October 2018!! :-)
Soooo lucky with that week of sunny and warm weather in late October; the week after we had the most terrifying, stormy weather we ever had in Genoa.
The damage to the whole coastal area of the Liguria region was devastating; beach cafes, boats, houses close to the sea, roads, passeggiata – nothing could resist Mother Nature’s action at sea with waves over 6 metres and wind gusts up to 100 km/h.
But… bad weather is good for renos! We finished the last part of the project: painting ceilings, walls, doors, door frames of the living room, dining room and two bedrooms. Additionally, because all furniture had already been moved out of the living/dining room for painting, the timber floor has been cut back, polished and re-oiled (with us staying in Milan for three days because we were not allowed to walk on the floor). Total time spent on the complete renovation of the apartment: 12 weeks.
My parents came over at the end of November to celebrate the successful closure of this mega project!

Wat is het appartement mooi geworden! Zo leuk om dat mooie plekje ook in het echt te hebben gezien. Ik snap nu waarom jullie er zo van houden. Bedankt voor het heerlijke weekje.
